GENERAL DESCRIPTION OF DUTIES The primary purpose of this position is to assist in the preparation and maintaining of land records and digital maps of land parcels. Employees in this classification perform tasks of a technical nature. Position is responsible for assisting in maintaining the Tax Office Geographical Information System through operation of computer(s) and peripheral equipment and maintaining of various maps, documents and correspondence; and assisting the general public with maps and related needs. May be required to research ownership history of real estate parcels to determine current ownership by using public records and various other sources of information. Assists with the use-value program. Performs related work as required. Work is performed under regular supervision by the Tax Administrator. SPECIFIC DUTIES AND RESPONSIBLITIES EXAMPLES OF ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS The list of essential functions, as outlined herein, is intended to be representative of the tasks performed within this classification. Itis not necessarily descriptive of any one position in the class. The omission of an essential function does not preclude management from assigning duties not listed herein if such functions are a logical assignment to the position. This position is responsible for maintaining computerized digital mapping of cadastral (Land Records) and ortho-photography using ESRI ArcPro Standard (formerly Arc Editor). This position assists in maintaining files of various maps, documents, and correspondence; operates the digital mapping system. Has the ability to read and interpret deeds, land surveys and metes and bounds and adjoining boundary descriptions. This position assists in the transfer of real property to the extent consistent with job duties. This position performs 10-year tax searches, maintains records of the 10-year searches in searchable database, and reviews and submits deeds via Simplefile. This position assigns tax identification numbers for permit applications; performs data entry including coding of fire districts. Researches parcel ownership history. Assists with and provides maps and related information to the revaluation team. This position serves as a Review Officer and assists multiple departments with varying degrees of difficult tasks. This position advises and assists with changes to the GIS website. This position is responsible for answering general questions relating to matters within the Tax Office that may not be directly related to tax mapping responsibilities. MARGINAL FUNCTIONS While the following tasks are necessary for the work of the unit, they are not an essential part ·of the purpose of this position and may also be performed by other unit members. Performs general filing. Assists other unit workers when time permits. Performs other duties as assigned. Collecting and keeping a balanced drawer for printed map money. Backing up the front counter. Answering the publics questions about Real and Personal Property. Assisting Tax payers whenever needed above and beyond the general scope of duties. May be required to assist with inquires that may arise at the service counter that are directly related to tax mapping responsibilities. May be required to assist in the printing and updating of "property cards" May be required to assist with telephone inquiries that may arise that are directly related to tax mapping responsibilities. May be required to assist in the capture and maintenance of street centerline files using handheld GPS devices. May be required to provide support and emergency operations during disasters
